For further assistance, contact technical support via WhatsApp: https://wa.me/85269978989
Note: Most phones automatically configure APNs upon inserting the SIM card. If it doesn’t work, check the access point, chosen network operator, and data roaming settings. The issue may not be with the SIM card itself, so contact technical support before returning to Hong Kong. No claims or refunds will be processed without prior contact. Keep the SIM card and packaging for future inquiries.
Q3: Can I manually select a different network?
Banana Travel Sim connects automatically to the local network.
If the displayed network is not the one you selected, you can manually set the correct network operator.
If manual adjustments don’t work, try restarting your phone.
Q4: Can I make voice calls using Banana Travel Sim?
Banana Travel Sim does not support roaming voice calls. However, you can use third-party apps like WhatsApp or Line to make voice calls using mobile data.
Q5: Do I need to update my WhatsApp number when using Banana Travel Sim?
When replacing your SIM card abroad, WhatsApp will ask if you want to retain or update your number. Simply choose to retain your current number to continue using your existing WhatsApp account.
Q6. Anything to note when using Banana Travel SIM / eSIM?
If you lose it, both SIM and eSIM can’t be replaced — you’ll need to buy a new one. Also, once an eSIM is activated on a device, it can’t be moved to another phone or device.

We currently accept bank transfers, FPS (Faster Payment System), Apple Pay, WeChat Pay, Visa, or MasterCard. More payment options will be available in the future.

If you choose Hongkong Post local ordinary mail, the estimated delivery time is 3–5 business days (longer for outlying islands or remote areas).
To reduce the risk of lost mail or if you prefer faster delivery, you may opt for SF Express, with an estimated delivery time of 1–2 business days.
Delivery times are for reference only and are not guaranteed as part of the service commitment.
Q1: Does Banana Travel Sim require real-name registration?
For our roaming data cards, real-name registration is required for travel in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Q1. Is real-name registration required for Mainland China?
Customers using our products in Mainland China are still not required to complete real-name registration.
Q2. Do I need to activate the SIM before travelling to Mainland China?
From 17 June 2026 (Hong Kong Time), for all inactive plans, customers using roaming data in Mainland China mustinsert the SIM card within the previous 72 hours in Hong Kong or another overseas destination (excluding Mainland China), successfully connect to a local network, and remain connected for 3–5 minutes before the SIM canbe used in Mainland China.
Q3. Can I use data in Hong Kong?
We currently do not provide Hong Kong data services. Therefore, while the SIM may connect to a Hong Kong network, data usage is not available in Hong Kong.
Q4. Will the plan be activated when I insert the SIM in Hong Kong?
No. Connecting to a Hong Kong network alone will not activate the plan. The validity period only begins when the SIM successfully connects to a supported destination network where data service is available.
Q5. Will this new requirement affect recharged plans that include Mainland China?
Scenario A
If you are currently using a 365-day plan and it expires, and the newly recharged plan remains inactive for more than 72 hours after expiry, you will need to reinsert the SIM in Hong Kong or another overseas destination (excluding Mainland China) and connect to a local network before using it again in Mainland China.
If you terminate the current plan during the throttled-speed period and activate the newly recharged plan immediately, this requirement will not affect you.
Scenario B
If a 7-day Mainland China plan is activated on 15 June and expires on 22 June, and you purchase another Mainland China plan online on 25 June or later, the gap exceeds 72 hours. In this case, you must reinsert the SIM in Hong Kong or another overseas destination (excluding Mainland China) and successfully connect to a local network before using it in Mainland China again.
Q6. Does this new requirement affect eSIMs?
No. This requirement applies only to physical SIM cards. eSIMs are not affected and can still be activated directly in Mainland China.
Q7. Will I receive a confirmation message showing that Mainland China roaming is ready?
No SMS confirmation message will be sent.
Simply insert the SIM card in Hong Kong or another overseas destination (excluding Mainland China), successfully connect to a local network, and remain connected for 3–5 minutes. The SIM will then be ready for use in Mainland China.
Q8. Do I need to connect the SIM outside Mainland China every time before using it in Mainland China?
This requirement only applies when the plan is inactive and your first destination is Mainland China.
Once the plan has been successfully activated and remains valid, you may travel in and out of Mainland China multiple times without repeating this process. No further action is required until the plan expires.
